Why are we here?

Verily, all praise is due to Allah. We praise Him, seek refuge with Him, and seek His Forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of our souls and mistakes in our actions. Whoever Allah Guides, there is none who can misguide him, and whoever Allah misguides, there is no who can guide him. And I testify that there is none worthy of being worshiped except Allah and I testify that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is his servant and messenger.

“O you who believe! Have taqwa of Allah as He deserves, and don’t die except as Muslims” Qur’aan.

My dear respected brothers and sisters I would like to share with you this small article which I wrote it and I’m sure you can benefit from it. So have you ever asked in yourself the most important question in life?

Why are we here (in this world)? Or would you think the other questions such as; where did we come from? What are we doing here? And where are we going after we die? We forget these basic questions in our daily routines, but ignoring them will not make them go away. So let us think about this, to begin with look around us. Unless we live in cave. You might be amazed to learn, that Islam is providing clear and concise answers for these questions. Islam teaches that this life is only a test or trial for the individual to show him his true nature it is only natural that he would accept death as not so much an ending to everything but more as a beginning of the final and lasting life in the Hereafter. Every person will be rewarded [or punished] according to their attitude, appreciation and efforts during this stay on earth. As the life here is considered as an examination for the individual, the death stage is considered as a resting period after the test. It could be easy for those who were faithful and dedicated or it could be gruelling and horrible for the wicked.

Reward and punishment will be in direct proportion to each person and it is only Allah, alone who will be the Final Judge over us all. So in the teachings of the True Surrender, Submission, Obedience, In Sincerity and Peace to the Almighty One God [Islam], the line of life and its purpose is logical, clear and simple

The only reason that we are here is to worship Allah (SW) , the other things that we do is to survive our life. Allah mentions in the glories Qur’an,

“And I did not create the jinn and humankind except to worship me”…  [Quran 51:56-58] surah Al-dariyah.

Very simple! The purpose for man’s creation is to worship the Creator.  The Islamic understanding of worship allows the whole of one’s life to be an act of worship, as long as the objective of that life is the pleasure of Allah, which is achieved by doing good and refraining from evil. A person can turn everyday activities into acts of worship by purifying his or her intention and sincerely seeking Allah’s pleasure through these activities.

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Greeting a person is charity. Acting justly is charity. Helping a man with his steed is charity. A good word is charity. Every step taken on the way to performing prayers is charity. Removing an obstacle from the road is charity.”

Dear brothers/sisters please think for a while what Allah (sw) gave you, I’m sure you cannot count.

Allah gave us a light in Islam, because Islam is our way of life. So everything we do, we have to do under Islamic shadow. Every single day, we acquired uncountable graces from Allah, The Most Gracious. But sometimes, even with those merits, we still feel dissatisfied. For example, Allah the Exalted has granted us health, body and soul, which, if one wants to pay to have it, is very expensive, even immeasurable .Allah has given us long ages, which could never be paid even by all riches we possess. Nevertheless, we just consider that our wealth is our only grace, sole fortune. While actually, our health, age, and on the top of that, our belief, are either wonderful graces from Allah the Merciful. So my dear brothers/sisters be grateful for what Allah sw gives you even for the less, because the prophet Shallallaahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam once said:

“Whoever cannot be grateful for the little amount he had, will never be able to be thankful for the big amount”

We know that as a human being our needs are unlimited, because always we need or want more for what we have, but dear brothers/sister remember that graces from Allah are uncountable, so let us be grateful for what Allah sw bestowed upon us. And the greatest blessing of Allah bestowed upon us is our guidance to Islam. How many blessed is there who has a lot of money, who is filthy rich but cannot enjoy any of this because of diseases or panic that, struck him. You will see him not enjoying the delicious food or the sweet sleep; a lot complaining, a little thanking.

How many poor is there; destitute; who does not have the daily bread? Nevertheless he has a sound body; he is laughing and happy. He does not carry the burden of tomorrow’s sustenance. He is thanking his Lord, the Almighty.

People work, sleep, and spend all their time doing different activities, so the question which on the table is, are these activities useful or good for us, in this world (Dunya(  and also hereafter (Akhirah), because remember every second minute we spent in our life will be asked in the day of judgement .

Narrated by ibn Abbas: Allah's Apostle said,

"Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth before you become old; and your health before you fall sick; and your richness before you become poor; and your free time before you become busy; and your life before your death."

Life is like a book of three pages, first page is “Birth” last page is “Death and Central page is “Empty”

So it is up to you how to fill your page by doing good or bad deeds. Therefore what is required of us is to depend on Allah, put our trust in Allah. This is what we have to draw out of this attribute of Allah being the creator. This creation exists because of that attribute. Its practical significance to us lies in putting our trust in Allah. Therefore when we look for the purpose of worship, we have to look into man. Allah created us to worship him, because we need to worship him. It is something he has given us as a means of benefiting ourselves. We are the ones who benefit from it. Worship has been established, fundamentally for the growth, the spiritual growth of man. This growth takes place through the remembrance of Allah. When you look at all the different aspects of worship, you will see the core of it is focused on the remembrance of Allah. So we should worship Allah and obey his commands because that why we are here in this world and bear in mind, the first life is a test, the life in the grave is a resting or waiting place before the Day of Judgment. The Day of Judgment brings about the clear understanding of what will now happen to the individual based on his own desires and actions.

The Permanent or Afterlife will either be spending in luxurious splendour or miserable punishment. So to make my word short, the purpose of this life is the worship of Allah; this life is  a test. A test for us, will we worship Allah, or will we forget Him. This is where our focus has to begin.

So may Allah sw guide us to the right path and bestowed his blessing and mercy upon us and grantee us his paradise (Jannah)  in hereafter  aameen
